Apogee Powered
Loudspeakers (APLs) provide the same superior sound quality Apogee's non-powered
models are known for. Compact, internal amplifiers equal or exceed the
power and fidelity of traditional outboard rack-mounted amplifiers...at
a mere fraction of the weight. Unique, patented amplifier technologies
eliminate the need for cooling fans, greatly reducing maintenance and
extending service life.
Intelligent signal processing is entirely self-contained in each model,
making setup easy and fast. Each speaker's processor circuitry is critically
mated to its drivers using eighth-order crossovers. Apogee's exclusive
VIProtect™ circuits with voltage and current sensors increase driver
linearity while reducing the likelihood of damage or failure.
The APLs
are fully arrayable and very effective when used alone or as the building
block for a large system. They provide extremely high power, well-defined
directional control, low distortion, and superbly accurate response.
Even the hand-crafted cabinets are constructed of the highest grade Finland
birch, making them exceptionally durable and enhancing acoustic performance.
All you give up are equipment racks, speaker cables, and setup time.

The 18" permantent magnet cone-type driver is treated with a
waterproofing compound for resistance to moisure and enabling long-term
stability of cone resonance, also treated with Ferrofluid for greater
power handling capability and lower distortion.
