Projectors:
There are a number of projectors that are perfectly suited to education purposes, from the critical price/value standpoint, as well as features and quality:
Mitsubishi's EX100U is 2000 lumens, at 6.5 lb.
Mitsubishi's L4SW is 1700 lumens, under 6 lb.
NEC projectors:
NEC VT676, 2500 lumens, 6.6 lbs, XGA, both these NEC's have good audio output- shorter-throw lens for closer placement to screen and the Lamp life, 3,000 hours (more than most)
NEC LT245K, 2000 lumens, 6.5 lbs, XGA, has a security feature many schools like, prevents unauthorized use. Both NEC's have a lot of great features. These are both highly recommended for classroom use. The LT265K is "ADA 508 Compliant". includes closed captioning at the bottom of the video for the hearing impaired and with an optional menu that allows all the menus to be displayed in BLACK and WHITE as opposed to Color for the color-blind.
NEC GT5000 is an example of a fixed installation powerhouse suitable for lecture halls and auditoriums, with 6000 lumens.

Screens:
